VERO BEACH — Tiger Lily Art Studios and Gallery at 1903 14th Ave. will be bringing in an artist as of June 1, 2012.
Tiger Lily Art Studios and Gallery is owned and operated by a group of 5 highly accomplished and professional women artists; Julia Carter, Shotsi Lajoie, Travis Blanton, Sharon Sexton and Glenda Taylor. The gallery exclusively features their work, and the studio space is designed to meet the needs of 6 artists.
We are seeking an artist to work with us to fulfill our mission to support and encourage each artist’s own unique process. TL was established in 1992, and that purpose still remains today.
The studio environment has proven to have a significantly positive influence on our work. Our dialogue and interaction with each other provides valuable, alternative perspectives that we have enjoyed. Finding the “right fit” is as important to us as the quality of the work.
We envision a four-part commitment for the incoming artist. They are as follows:
To make art of the highest quality.
Be able to keep gallery hours. We rotate from week to week, so typically each person “mans” the gallery, one day, every other week, and every sixth Friday and Saturday.
Be able to cover the overhead and expenses. An estimated amount for the year is $6500. This figure includes most everything; the rent, advertising, marketing, gallery openings, and studio needs. The gallery does NOT take a commission on any sales made by the artists.
Be a part of our committee system to efficiently run TL. These committees do everything from keeping the gallery walls painted and floors waxed to working the PR side of the business. Your individual strengths will be used as an asset, so we try to put each person on the committees that will bring about the strongest team.
If you are interested, please provide us with an Expression of Interest that would include:
· Your artist resume and statement (brief bio, mission statement, etc.)
· Digital examples of work on jpegs, no more than 3, or include website address, if applicable.
· Examples of why you believe you would be a “good” fit. Give some brief examples of your innovation and artistic sense.
· Any specific ideas you may see as a benefit to help improve TL, and how you fit into that plan.
Our process will be to:
· Review the Expressions of Interest received.
· Select those artists for interviews. TL will call the artist if we are interested.
Please e-mail all inquiries to [email protected].
We look forward to hearing from you and request your response no later than April 30, 2012.
