Joseph Francis Walker, 88, Vero Beach

Joseph Francis Walker, 88, died March 8, 2012, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.

He retired from the New York Police Department and as a union delegate of the AFL-CIO 32J-32B Bldg. Union in New York City.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.

He was a member of the Indian River Medical Center Pulmonary Rehab Center in Vero Beach for many years.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include his stepson, Randy Galbraith, of Vero Beach.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Walker; daughter, Susan Walker; and sons, Robert Walker and Joseph, who died April 12.

A combined memorial service for him and his son will be at 1 p.m. April 21 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
