Kashi, community to celebrate founder Ma Jaya’s life in May

SEBASTIAN — The life and work of Ma Jaya, founder of the Kashi Ashram in Sebastian, will be celebrated by her members and the community in May. Ma Jaya passed away Friday, April 13, at her home. She was 71, surrounded by her family.

Ma was taken to an area funeral home where she will be cremated. She was beautifully dressed with Ram shawls and rose petals placed on and around her by all her chelas who were present at the home.

Kirtan, drumming, and conches were blown as everyone rang bells – shouting ‘Jai Ma’ as they followed the van out to Roseland Road.

After the cremation, Ma’s ashes will be the center of a Puja in the Dattatreya Temple at Kashi House.

All are invited to join the Kashi community to celebrate her Mahasamadhi and birthday on May 26, during which Ma Jaya’s ashes will be committed to the Mother Ganga pond at Kashi.

Anyone wishing to do so may send donations to Kashi via the organization’s website, www.kashi.org.
