Alert resident helps Vero police nab 2 accused burglars

VERO BEACH — A resident in the area of Blue Heron Lane in Vero Beach called the Vero Beach Police Department Tuesday morning to report two males running from a home carrying black plastic bags. Police responded, found the home to have been burglarized and caught the men the resident identified as having been seen running from the home.

The suspects, identified as Trayvious L. Hullet, 22, of 33rd Avenue, and Michael T. Wayne, 22, of Atlanta, Ga., have been arrested and face charges of burglary and grand theft.

Police found the men running northbound on 7th Avenue near the intersection with Royal Palm Boulevard. They did not have the bags with them. Upon conducting an area search, authorities found the bags stashed behind a nearby construction dumpster.

The bags contained a 27-inch flat screen TV and a DVD player.

Authorities arrested the men and subsequently searched Wayne’s pockets, finding jewelry and an American Express Gold credit card not issued to him. Jewelry was also found in Hullet’s pockets.

The items of jewelry and the credit card were found to be those of the homeowner.

The Vero Beach Police Department also found a Sony Handycam and a bottle of spray cologne that did not belong to the homeowner. Authorities believe the items were taken from another burglary that has yet to be reported.

Anyone with information about the as of yet unidentified victim of the other burglary is encouraged to contact the Vero Beach Police Department Detective Division at (772) 978-4660.
