VERO BEACH — Riverside Theatre announces a change in the selection of shows for this season’s Waxlax Second Stage. The Award-winning Bridge & Tunnel will take the slot of the previously announced Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks. Bridge & Tunnel will perform on the Waxlax Second Stage from April 19-29, 2012 and is presented by Riverside Theatre’s Patron Producers.
Karen Stephens reprises her award-winning (Outstanding Performance – Silver Palm; Best Actress 2011 – New Times) performance of Sarah Jones’ Obie and Tony Award-winning play, Bridge & Tunnel.
A Broadway hit and one woman tour-de-force, Bridge & Tunnel introduces the audience to fourteen distinct different characters – varying in age, gender, race, ethnicity, and history – and showcases what America is really all about.
In the search of liberty, equality and the opportunity for the American Dream, these characters collide in a riotous and endearing tribute to our nation’s melting pot.
The Miami Herald raved that the show “bubbles with insightful humor” performed by an actress that South Florida Theatre Review cited as “a delightful, dynamic performer” and “a marvel (who) seamlessly morphs from character to character” and “treats the audience to an insightful and exhilarating evening of theatre.”
“The opportunity to have such a talented performer on our Second Stage in incredibly exciting,” said Allen Cornell, Producing Artistic Director of Riverside Theatre and the production’s director. “The play is incredibly demanding and when Karen became available, I knew this would be a great piece our audiences would thoroughly enjoy.”
Along with directing the production, Mr. Cornell will also design the set. The rest of the production team includes: Marc Dodson (Costume Design), Michael Bell (Lighting Design), Craig Beyrooti (Sound Design) and Bob Miller Jr. (Stage Manager).
Bridge & Tunnel performs April 19 -29, 2012 on the Waxlax Second Stage at Riverside Theatre. Performances are Tuesday through Saturday Evenings at 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday Matinees at 2 p.m.
