By the River hosts senior health, wellness fair March 27

SEBASTIAN — By the River is hosting a large-scale health and wellness fair geared for those 55 and older. The event will be held Tuesday March 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 11065 Ganga Way (off of Roseland Road) in Sebastian. Admission is free and open to the public.

Many local health care professionals, both traditional and alternative, will be on hand to offer complimentary advice, strategies for longevity and vitality and to answer attendees’ questions.

Guests can sample healthy foods and organic vegetable juices while they enter in drawings for prizes and product samples provided by vendors. The event has garnered enormous community support aiming to bring the latest in health and wellness to area seniors.

There will be free health screenings available, often saving seniors hundreds of dollars in medical costs.

The fair features blood pressure and diabetes screening, blood sugar testing, spinal alignment and postural screenings and tips and lectures on subjects, such as skin care, legal, home health and hospital services, and how to prepare for surgery and heal faster.

Dr. Deepti Sadhwani of Quality Healthcare will give an uplifting and inspiring keynote speech called “Taking Charge of Your Own Health.”

Guests can also enjoy cooking, healthy foods and yoga demonstrations and even lessons on water aerobics and chair and line dancing.

“In organizing this we wanted to provide a fun and entertaining day for seniors to learn about the latest innovations in wellness,” said Dr. Deepti Sadhwani, a member of the board of directors of By the River. “And, we are aiming to restore economic dignity to our senior citizens by offering free health screenings to those who need it the most.”

Prepare for Surgery –Heal Faster, VNA of the Treasure Coast, Dr. Deepti Sadhwani, Your Family Chiropractor, VIP America Home Health Care, Tara Dickinson of Nirvana Mama, Neighborhood Diabetes, Under the Canopy, Indian River Medical Center, Growing Healthy Kids, Kashi School of Yoga, Community Acupuncture, Wholesome Living Juices, Wetter Spine and Wellness Centers, HART of Compassion, Treasure Coast Community Health, Amedisys Home Health, Dill & Evans, P.L. and Blooming Sassy with the Shaklee product line.

Guests can tour and learn about the mission and vision of By the River, a first-of-its-kind community that is a prototype for senior living by the State Department of Elder Affairs.
