Mary E. Steinmetz, 94, died March 6, 2012, at West Melbourne Health Care, Melbourne.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Wabasso for 32 years, coming from West Milford, N.J.
She was a veteran serving in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II.
She saw service in North Africa and in Europe.
She was a visiting nurse in Brooklyn and was later employed by the Board of Education, West Milford Township, N.J. as a school nurse before her retirement.
She was a member of the New Jersey Retired Teachers Association, Trenton, N.J.
She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian.
She was a member of the Polish American Social Club, Wabasso and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Henry A. Steinmetz, of Melbourne.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Cholewinski; and sister, Blanche Fischetti.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. March 10 at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. March 10 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sebastian with military honors conducted by the Sebastian Area Veterans’ Honor Guard.
Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce.
