Delmont W. Oquist, 90, Sebastian

Delmont W. Oquist, 90, died March 7, 2012, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Roseland.

He was born in Kenosha, Wis., and lived in Sebastian for 32 years, coming from his birthplace.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

He was the owner/operator of Del’s Barber and Beauty Shop since the 1980s, located in Sebastian.

He played base and tuba in numerous bands throughout Indian River County.

He was an active member of Riverside Church Assembly of God in Sebastian.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 189 and the VFW Post 10210, both in Sebastian, and a member of the Senior Center in Vero Beach.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Connie Oquist, of Sebastian; sons, Dean Oquist, of Escondido, Calif., Kelly Oquist, of Micco, Mark Paskiewicz, of Tampa and Michael Paskiewicz, of Ontario, Wisc.; daughters, Ellen Kaleck and Barbara Feczko, both of Pleasant Praire, Wisc., Roxanne Trantow, of Vero Beach, Maxine Bjork, of Kenosha, Wisc., Jo Anne White, of Sebastian and Carol Allen, of San Diego; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ellen Oquist; and sister, Loretta Henoch.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. March 10 at Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian with military honors conducted at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel with the Sebastian Area Veterans Honor Guard.

A celebration of life service will be from 2 to 4 p.m. March 11 at Riverside Church Assembly of God Sebastian with the Rev. Grant Foster of Riverside Church Assembly of God officiating.
