Robert Carl Bancroft, 89, died Feb. 22, 2012, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Watertown, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach since 1984, coming from his birthplace.
Before retirement, he worked for 31 years for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. and ended his career as a foreman of the underground cable crews.
He was a parishioner of Bethany Methodist Church and was a member of the Sportsmen’s Club in Watertown.
Survivors include his wife, Maryann; sons, Frederick Bancroft, of Watertown and Robert Bancroft Jr., of Chaumont, N.Y.; daughter, Kathy Grant, of Watertown; sister, Helen Loveland, of Watertown; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Bonnie Kelly; sisters, Irene, Marg, Lillian and Betty; and brothers, George and Harvey.
Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Spanish Lakes Country Club Clubhouse.
