Margaret Young, 99, Vero Beach

Margaret Young, 99, died Feb. 24, 2012, at The Place at Vero Beach.

She was born in Charlestown, Mass., grew up in Jamaica Plain, Mass., and lived in Vero Beach for 40 years, coming from Washington, D.C.

She was the secretary to the Judge Advocate General of the Army for many years, retiring after more than three decades of government service.

She was a longtime member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach and Vero Beach Country Club.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews; and caretaker and longtime friend, Kitty Modine.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. Young; and brothers, John Barron, Thomas Barron, Maurice Salmon, Laurence Salmon and Francis Salmon.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a wake service to follow at 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.

Burial alongside her husband will be at Arlington National Cemetery in March.
