Donald Thomas Wynne Jr., 85, Vero Beach

Donald Thomas Wynne Jr., 85, died Feb. 15, 2012, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

He was born in Port Chester, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach since 1976, coming from Cleveland.

He became president of Vlchek Plastics in Middlefield, Ohio, by his late 30s and was a member of the YPO, the Young Presidents Organization.

He was the valedictorian of his graduating high school class.

After attending Cornell University during World War II, he graduated with honors from the NYU School of Engineering.

He was a longtime member of the Country Club in Pepper Pike, Ohio, and Mentor Harbor Yacht Club in Mentor on the Lake, Ohio.

Locally, he was a member of the Moorings Club in Vero Beach.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marilou J. Wynne, of Vero Beach; sons, Thomas Wynne, of Greenwich, Conn., and Craig Wynne, of Westport, Conn; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Quaintance.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church, 2365 Pine Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A memorial celebration will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 20 at the Trinity Episcopal Church Chapel in Vero Beach, with the Rev. Lewis R. Gwyn III, officiating.

A reception for family and friends will immediately follow the service in the memorial garden of the church.

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory of Vero Beach.
