Meet McKee Sculpting Nature artists at Presidents’ Day luncheon

VERO BEACH — In celebration of Presidents’ Day on Monday, Feb. 20, McKee Botanical Garden will open its doors from 10 am to 5 pm. Besides strolling along the Garden and viewing McKee’s current art exhibition Sculpting Nature, visitors will have an opportunity to meet some of the featured artists at a special Artists Luncheon beginning at noon.

Participating in the luncheon will be eight artists from around the state including Robert Coon, John Dean, Cathy Ferrell and Lee Harris all of Vero Beach. The informal, meet and greet style event will offer attendees a chance to speak one on one with the artists and learn more about the inspiration behind some of their favorite sculptures.

The cost for the luncheon is $12 plus the cost of admission for non-members (admission is free for members), and includes a box lunch from Elizabeth’s at the Garden Cafe.

According to McKee Botanical Garden Executive Director Christine Hobart, “One of the most distinguishing qualities about Sculpting Nature is that it collectively features the artwork of multiple artists. The Artists Luncheon taking place on Presidents’ Day is a great way to become better acquainted with some of these artists and learn more about their creative point of view.”

Sculpting Nature is an independently-curated collection of more than 30 large-scale sculptures exploring the relationship between the artistic and natural worlds exclusive to McKee Botanical Garden. It includes pieces as tall as fifteen feet; as long as seventeen feet; shapes molded from aluminum, bronze and glass; and artwork designed to float in the ponds or simulate flying through the air. The sculptures are available for purchase and can be viewed during normal business hours through April 30.

Space for the Artists Luncheon is limited and reservations are required. To reserve, please call 772-794-0601. For more information, visit www.mckeegarden.org.
