VERO BEACH — Fans of the brothers Grimm, get ready for Saint Edward’s School Theatre Department’s presentation of the fabulously famous fractured fairytale Into the Woods on Feb. 24 and 25 in the Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts.
The cast and crew will give three performances, opening on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. with repeat performances on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Box Office opens one half hour before each performance.
This Tony award winning Broadway Musical from the legendary Steven Sondheim brings together the familiar childhood stories of Rapunzel, Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and more. The captivating Sondheim music for the production is in the expert hands of Saint Edward’s School’s Fine Arts Chair and Choral Director, Dr. Daniel Koh. The score includes such memorable favorites as “Children Will Listen”, “Ever After” and of course “Into the Woods.”
“It’s absolutely fascinating the way the stories are woven together and how the characters begin to rely on each other’s actions as well as the elements of each other’s stories” says theater director Maggie Baker.
The set design and technical direction is the work of technical director Jeremy Baker and includes a variety of creative visual elements including live action rear projection, giant story books, towering trees and a daunting castle tower.
Students in starring roles include Jamari Williams, Cara Brueggeman, Eric Lambert, Caroline Petty, Claudia Seckinger, Sarah Lambert, Hayden Walsh, Emily Salvador, Kaitlin Haire, Austin Carroll, Megan Cooke, Natie Deibe, Ethan Klein, Amber Quinlan, Jordan Canevari, Cassidy Layton, Nicki Puskar, Tim Norton, Kyle Aldrich, Matt Murphy, Bella Dunbar and Ashley Brown. Senior Brittany Gonzalez is Stage Manager.
For families with children looking for superior family entertainment, this production is sure to please. Audiences of all ages are welcome to the state-of-the-art, 800-seat Waxlax Center for the Performing Arts located on the Saint Edward’s School campus at 1895 Saint Edward’s Drive.
