Masked gunman holds up Vero Beach’s Florida Community Bank

VERO BEACH —Vero Beach Police Officers are currently investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the Florida Community Bank (formerly the First People’s Bank ) located at 4000 20th St., Vero Beach. Vero Beach Officers are receiving the assistance of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office (patrol deputies and helicopter) and the Sebastian Police Department (K-9 Officer).

Officers responded at 10 a.m. and are on scene looking for the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male standing 5 feet 4 inches tall. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, gray sweat pants and was carrying a black backpack.

The suspect also wore a ski mask and displayed a firearm.

VERO BEACH — The Florida Community Bank (also known as First People’s Bank) located at 4070 20th Street in Vero Beach was robbed Tuesday morning. The Vero Beach Police Department is on scene and working to located the suspect.

The suspect was described as a black male who fled the scene on foot west on State Road 60. Police do not know if he is still on foot or if he has gotten into a vehicle.

Rosewood Magnet Elementary School has been notified of the robbery and is taking whatever precautions school leaders there deem necessary.
