VERO BEACH — The Artists Guild Gallery proudly presents “People Places and Things,” impressionist works in oil by award-winning Guest Artist Charlotte M. Dickinson on view February 3 through February 29. An opening reception will be held during the Gallery Stroll on Friday, Feb. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m. which is free and open to the public.

Growing up artistically inspired by other family members, Charlotte Dickinson began to paint at a very young age. Over the years she studied with many fine artists, among them William Schultz and Charles Movallik, whom she credits with “showing her the light.” From her studies in the beautiful Endless Mountain area of Pennsylvania to the tropical environment of Vero Beach, she has been painting and teaching for more than 30 years. Finding a void in the organization of impressionist painters, Charlotte founded the American Impressionist Society in 1998, which has since grown to a sizeable and well-respected organization, and has resulted in a following of collectors for its members. Articles about Charlotte and her work have been published in several fine arts publications, and she has exhibited in galleries all over the country. Charlotte holds memberships in the Vero Beach Art Club and the Oil Painters of America, and she lectures, teaches and demonstrates her impressionist techniques for the public.

Charlotte now devotes her entire professional life to the challenge of the effects of light on form through color. Inspired by the works of Cezanne and the Impressionists, Charlotte strives to capture the essence of light’s effect on nature and objects. Although oil is Charlotte’s forté, she enjoys painting in other mediums which she believes may work better for certain subjects or techniques. “My love for painting,” says Charlotte, “is the result of a great appreciation of nature and the beauty around me, and I strive to bring the beauty of nature into the home for the viewer to enjoy and reflect upon.” Currently exhibiting in the U.S. and Canada, she is best known for her landscapes, still life, floral and multi-canvas conceptual painting in oil and watercolor.

New works by other Gallery Artists and Consignors will also be on display in a vast array of styles and mediums, including sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, pottery, art glass, wood sculpture and prints. The largest and most diverse gallery in Vero Beach, it is located at 1974 14th Avenue. Hours are Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and by special appointment.
