Political Science professor James Monroe to speak at Brown alumni dinner

Hear one of Brown’s most inspiring and admired faculty, Political Science Professor and Chair, James Morone, as he speaks on “The Dirty Rotten Secrets of Health Reform – From Franklin Roosevelt to Barack Obama,” Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Grand Harbor Golf and Beach Club. Cocktails (Cash Bar) begin at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Professor Morone’s book, “The Heart of Power,” which focuses on the subject of his talk, was featured in the NY Times Book Review and explores how 10 presidents dealt with health reform. He uncovers fascinating stories that reveal interesting, sometimes dark aspects of American politics. Learn the dirty rotten secrets that few else know. Morone, described by his students as “passionate, exciting, enthusiastic and amazing” has published eight books, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, was the subject of a Playboy interview and has written more than 130 essays and NY Times op eds.
