Raymond E. Batten, 83, died Dec. 13, 2011.
He was born in Philadelphia and lived in the North Hutchinson Island and Vero Beach area for 24 years.
He worked for E. I. du Pont Corp. in Carney’s Point, N.J., for 36 years, retiring as senior supervisor for storage and transport in 1982.
In 1971, in his spare time, he founded Vital Heath Foods in Glassboro, N.J.
For several years, he co-chaired the Du Pont United Way Campaign for Salem County, N.J.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Doris E. Batten, of North Hutchinson Island; daughter, Karen E. Schnee, of Stowe, Vt.; son, Raymond A. Batten, of Cape May, N.J.; sister, Doretta Marquisette, of North Hutchinson Island; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Interment is private.
A memorial will be at a later date at the Methodist Church in Franklinville, N.J.
