Early voting for Republican Primary starts Saturday

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Early voting for the Presidential Preference Primary Election will take place from Saturday, Jan. 21, through Jan. 28, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at three locations throughout Indian River County.

Those locations are:

  • Supervisor of Elections Office: 4375 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach
  • Indian River County Main Library: 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach
  • Sebastian City Hall/Old Schoolhouse Bldg.: 1235 Main Street, Sebastian

Plan ahead and save time by viewing estimated early voting wait times on the Elections Office Facebook or Twitter page.

Early voters should bring identification (such as a Florida driver’s license) that contains a photo and a signature. Other acceptable forms of ID can be found on the Elections Office website at www.voteindianriver.com.

Voters who do not have proper identification will be required to vote a provisional ballot.

A sample ballot is now posted on the Supervisor of Elections website. Voters are encouraged to review the sample ballot and come prepared to vote – even bring along the sample ballot with their pre-determined choices marked to speed up the process.

Voters also have the option of requesting an absentee ballot to be mailed to them. Absentee ballots cannot be forwarded. Requests for absentee ballots can be made via the website or by calling the Elections Office at 226-3440. If you will not be at your Indian River County address, please request the address to which you want the ballot mailed.

The last day for voters to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to them is January 25, 2012.

Those who choose to wait until Election Day to vote must go to their assigned polling location. Many polling locations have been consolidated due to budget cuts.

All voters who are eligible to vote in this election and are affected by polling place changes have already been notified of their new polling location by the Supervisor of Elections.

Voters may confirm their polling location by visiting the Supervisor of Elections website and clicking on the “Find Your Precinct” tab, or by calling the Elections Office.
