Vero Beach High School Orchestra to present Tchaikovsky & the Barber

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach High School Symphony Orchestra will perform the Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture, by Peter Tchaikovsky, on Friday, Jan. 27 at 7 pm and Saturday, Jan. 28, at 4 pm in the VBHS Performing Arts Center.

This Romantic symphonic poem was first composed in 1869 and published in 1871. After revisions, its final version, which will be performed, was re-published in 1881.

The performance will also feature the Barber of Seville Overture, by Rossini, and Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, featuring Lauren Douglas as soloist.

The Vero Beach High School Symphony Orchestra is composed of seventy-eight student musicians, all between grades nine and twelve under the direction of Matt Stott.

Call the VBHS Box Office at 772-564-5537 for tickets, which are only $12 for the lower level and $10 for the upper level. Visa & MasterCard are accepted and all seating is reserved. Proceeds will benefit the education of Indian River County students by providing musical instruments and sheet music.
