Indian River Symphonic Assn. hosts Tschaikowsky St. Petersburg Symphony Jan. 28

VERO BEACH — On Saturday, January 28, the Indian River Symphonic Association will present a concert by the Tschaikowski St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra will be under the baton of Maestro Roman Leontiev and will feature pianist Alexandre Pirozhenko. The concert will begin at 7:30 pm at the Community Church of Vero Beach.

Maestro Leontiev, winner of the USSR State Medal of Excellence in Conducting in 1985, has been the Music Director and Chief Conductor of this orchestra since 2002. This is the orchestra’s inaugural tour of the United States.

Pirozhenko, who started his piano studies at age 5, has been a consistent winner of prizes in international piano competitions since 1990. He has performed with most of the leading orchestras of Russia and the Ukraine as well as with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Nordwest Deutsche Philharmonic, the National Orchestra of Portugal, the Wroclaw Philharmonic of Poland and the Naples (FL) Philharmonic Orchestra, to name just a few.

The musical program for the evening will consist of:

Ravel Daphnis and Chloe, Suite No. 2

Prokofiev Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Orchestra in D Flat Major, Op. 10

Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition

Individual tickets are $50 each. For those who are unable to get tickets in advance of a concert, returned tickets are almost always available at the door on the evening of the concert.
