St. Helen’s to host A Night at the Copacabana

VERO BEACH — St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Vero Beach will host its big evening fundraiser, A Night at the Copacabana, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 in the Parish Center.

This re-creation of the Golden Age at the Copacabana has met with rave reviews – nowhere else in Florida can you hear the likes of Sinatra, the Andrews Sisters’, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Bobby Darin, Lena Horne, Tony Bennett, Carmen Miranda and more. The show includes dancers, a host to take you on a nostalgic journey back in time, and lavish costumes to give it a real feel for NYC’s most famous nightclub.

Golden Oldies Dance Parties will provide the stellar entertainment and be joined by Sha-Boom’s Sal Giarraffa and Connie Sacco, which will provide for three Fabulous Floor shows and dancing all evening. The sets include a tribute to the Pioneers at the Copacabana, including Sinatra and Louie Prima and Keely Smith. The second set is all the Legends at the Copacabana including Nancy Sinatra, Eddie Gorme, and Liza Minnelli, and Tony Bennett. The third set is a tribute to Motown with songs by The Temptations, Supremes, Mary Wells and Martha and the Vandellas.

In the late 1970’s the Copacabana became a huge discotheque and there will be some Disco Dancing to round out the evening. Also there will be plenty of those classic love songs from America’s greatest generation.

This is a perfect opportunity for everyone to experience “A Night at the Copacabana” as the event is open to the general public. . Admission includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, party food, snacks, soft drinks and drink mixers and is BYOB.
