Exhibition entitled “am i? I am” debuts at Intrepid Art Gallery Jan. 18

VERO BEACH — “am i? i am,” a collection of new work by artist, Pamela Pike Gordinier from Stonington, Ct and more recently Vero Beach, will be exhibited at the Intrepid Art Gallery from Jan. 18 through Feb. 18. An opening reception will be on Thursday Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. and closing ceremonies will be at the beach walkway across the gallery on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 5pm.

The exhibition includes oils, poured inks, and video art which explores navigating thru life and making our mark. In the art video, “am i? i am”, Pam has collaborated with dancer, L’Ana Burton, composer, Glenn Hardy and poet, Lana Orphanides from Ct. A portion of the video was filmed at daybreak in Vero Beach in March of 2011.

Ultimately, this work considers how we navigate through life and challenges the viewer to ask, how have I come this way? “Has my life mattered?”

Pamela Pike Gordinier has been a member of The Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, The Copley Society of Boston, and the Connecticut Watercolor Society. An award winning artist, her work hangs in the collections of several Fortune 500 companies.

L’Ana Burton, dance artist & educator, founded CDC – Creative Dance Continuum, a dance program for children of all ages in 1986 at Connecticut College. She is a master teaching artist through the State of Connecticut bringing dance into schools.

Glenn Hardy is a freelance composer, teacher, and improvising musician from Mystic, Connecticut. He has recorded several albums of original piano music, and has collaborated with his wife, Maggie, a poet, in setting many of her poems to music.

Lana Orphanides has been published in the journals, A Letter Among Friends, Southeastern Gale, and Freshwater. Her work is included in a book of poets and painters, Spring: Rebirth and Renewal, and in a chapbook, Sea and the Sound of Wind.

Intrepid Art Gallery mission is to support and promote the contemporary arts of local and abroad artists of emerging, midcareer and established artists in order to disseminate the visual arts in all manifestation.

Friday, Jan. 27, from 3 to 5 p.m., Intrepid Art Gallery, in an educational partnership with the Fielding institute for Life Long Learning at Indian River State College, has organized a convocation with artist Pamela Pike Gordinier about her video performance, her art and how we navigate through life and the challenges. Open to the public.
