Recycle old electronics at Jan. 28 recycling event

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Receive a new computer or TV for Christmas and not sure what to do with your old ones? Sorting through your household items and finding old cell phones, CD players, stereos and clock radios to discard of, but not sure how to do it in an environmentally-friendly way? Recycle them at the Annual Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Indian River County Fairgrounds, 7955 58th Ave. Vero Beach.

This annual event is sponsored by Indian River County Solid Waste Disposal District and Keep Indian River Beautiful.

Residents may dispose of their electronics during this event at no charge. Residents who bring in electronics will be eligible to enter a drawing for a free refurbished laptop, courtesy of AERC Recycling Solutions, the company contracted to safely dispose of the electronics.

In addition, giveaways will also be handed out to everyone who recycles, while supplies last.

Items that may be recycled include: computers, keyboards and mice; iPods, CD, VHS, DVD, MP3 players; fax machines and office equipment; security systems, radios, stereos and speakers; hand-held games and joy sticks; and telephones and answering machines.
