Kevin Given joins Indian River Community Foundation board

VERO BEACH — The Board of Directors of the Indian River Community Foundation recently elected local business leader and nonprofit volunteer Kevin Given to a three-year term as a director. Given, originally from West Virginia, became a permanent resident of Vero Beach in 2001. He is a partner in the Quail Valley Golf & River Clubs and serves as the Chief Operating Officer.

He is also a general partner in several real estate holdings and developments and is a director for Marine Bank and Trust, an independent bank in Vero Beach. Given is a graduate of Concord University in Athens, W. Va. where he majored in hotel management with a business administration minor.

In 2001, Given entered the local nonprofit scene when he established Quail Valley Charities in conjunction with the opening of Quail Valley Golf and River Clubs. The charitable foundation was intended to offer club members an opportunity to raise money for local children’s charities and has since grown into a week-long event that attracts participants from throughout Indian River County.

He was the organization’s first Executive Director and continues to serve on the board of directors. Given also serves on the board of the Environmental Learning Center and is a member of the Rotary Club of Vero Beach, the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce and the Club Manager Association of America.

Given said he is eager to bring the knowledge he has gained from other nonprofit boards to the Indian River Community Foundation and is most interested in strategic planning and marketing efforts for the organization.

“What attracted me is the cross-sector approach the Community Foundation can take to improving our community,” Given said. “We are not tied to one specific field, so the philanthropic work can focus on whatever is most needed and is most important to the donor, whether that is social services, the environment, health care or animal welfare. The opportunities are endless.”

The Indian River Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides donors with flexible philanthropic tools to achieve their current and long-term charitable giving goals. The foundation currently holds over $9 million in charitable assets, the majority of which are in Donor Advised Funds.
