Salvation Army exceeds 2011 Red Kettle campaign goal

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Salvation of Indian River County exceeded its goal for the 2011 Red Kettle Campaign, raising $97,700. The amount is $17,000 over the 2011 goal of $80,000. With a week left in the campaign The Salvation Army was sitting at $72,000 but with an incredible increase in donations the week leading up to Christmas The Salvation Army of IRC was able to exceed the goal which was also an increase in net totals for the third year in a row.

The pocket change from the community and all the cast of 100 percent volunteer bell ringers made the difference.

“The generosity of Indian River County came through during a tough economic time to help The Army ‘Do The Most Good’ this holiday season,” said Major VanDenberg.

The Red Kettle Campaign is the major fund-raiser for The Salvation Army and helps to support all our programs for the entire 2012 year.

The Salvation Army is only as successful as its generous donors, volunteers and community members allow it to be. Without the help and support of this community, the organization would not have been able to attain its goal and maintain its progress and service for the upcoming year.

The Salvation Army wishes to thank the following kettle sponsors, WOSN Ocean FM, Champion Home Health, Jack FM, Velde Ford, Mayflower Society, Gold Coast Landscape Lighting, Vero Beach Christian Business Assoc, Spring Hill Suites, Christian FM, Paul Williamson and Co, FPL, Vero Beach Hotel and Spa, The Crockett Group and Wal-Mart , along with all the individuals that followed the sponsors lead by making donations to the Red Kettle campaign during the past six weeks, along with a special thank you to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Department.
