INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Science and Engineering Fair Program is on the move. More than 10,000 students have competed in school based fairs in Indian River County and the top performers are presently preparing to advance to the regional fair on Saturday, Jan. 21, at Gifford Middle School.
Representatives from 28 public and independent schools will compete for cash awards and college scholarships. More than 150 local research professionals and business leaders will judge and mentor students during the event.
The Education Foundation of Indian River County is pleased to partner with the School District of Indian River County to present this “one-of-a-kind” event that offers students the opportunity to participate in a science forum that develops their critical and creative thinking skills. The program also has been a proven means for providing students the ability to build significant resumes with local, state, national and international standings for college and scholarship applications.
The program is funded entirely through private donations and grants from the George E. Warren Corporation, Quail Valley Charities, Syngenta, Wells Fargo, RBC Bank, Florida Power and Light, Publix Supermarkets Charities, Pro Spine, Merchants Association of Florida, and Paul Jaquin and Sons, Inc.
Below is the regional fair schedule. The community is invited to attend the public viewing sessions: secondary (6th -12th) from 11 a.m. – Noon and primary (K-5th) from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
