Charles G. Rogers, 91, Vero Beach

Charles G. Rogers, 91, died Dec. 29, 2011, at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

He was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., and lived in the area for 19 years from Marion, Ohio.

Before retirement, he owned and operated Rogers Shoe Parlor in Marion for 30 years.

He served as a pilot with Naval Air Transport Service in World War II.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Masonic Lodge 3, both in Parkersburg.

He attended Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, W.Va., Marietta College in Ohio and Ryan School of Aeronautics in San Diego.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Madalynne Rogers, of Vero Beach; daughter, Celia Griffiths, of Vero Beach; sons, Charles G. Rogers Jr., of Orange County, Calif., Craig Rogers, of Edmond, Okla., and Cary Rogers, of Kingston, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Jan. 5 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.

Arrangements are by Aycock Funeral Home in Fort Pierce.
