John’s Island Foundation gives Junior League grant for iPads

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Junior League of Indian River’s Whole Child initiative received a grant from the John’s Island Foundation that was used in part to purchase iPads so families can view and use the Whole Child Connection website while at community events.

The Whole Child Connection is an exciting, new, web-based program designed to give Indian River families better access to community services.

Through the Whole Child Connection, families can complete a “profile” to receive a custom report of services specific to their needs, and users can connect to hundreds of local resources. The Whole Child Connection is free, easy, confidential and convenient.

In the coming months Junior League members will be bringing the iPads to local community events to introduce families to the Whole Child Connection. Families can learn how to navigate the user friendly site and those needing assistance can receive help filling out a Whole Child Profile.

Having the iPads at community events will provide greater accessibility and more convenience for families to find information on available services in the area, such as counseling and legal services, support groups, pediatricians and health services, housing assistance, substance abuse services, and information on after-school activities.

“Whole Child Indian River is thrilled to be able to share the Whole Child Connection with families while at the community events, and we appreciate the John’s Island Foundation for making this happen,” said Executive Director Shira Johnson.
