VERO BEACH – The Oceanside Business Association (OBA) recently awarded Children’s Home Society of Florida, Treasure Coast Division, with a check for $2,500 from the “Taste of Vero” event proceeds.
Following a hiatus from the event, the OBA determined that they would resurrect the Taste of Vero this past fall due to popular demand. The event highlights various restaurants and caterers from around the community that feature a sampling of food and refreshments, exhibiting their finest fare at individual booths that are set up along Ocean Drive in Vero Beach. Guests purchase one ticket that entitles them to stroll down the promenade and indulge in a sampling at each station.
Children’s Home Society of Florida representatives also attended and set up an information booth amongst the festivities. During the event, they were surprised and delighted by a generous event guest that was visiting the area and staying at an oceanside hotel. The anonymous donor presented representatives with a $2,500 personal donation.
“This donor would have not known about Children’s Home Society of Florida, had they not met us at the Taste of Vero. So in essence the OBA actually helped us raise $5,000 as a result of this opportunity,” explained Jan Swink, Executive Director of Children’s Home Society of Florida, Treasure Coast Division.
The OBS is planning the next Taste of Vero for late spring 2012, which will benefit Youth Guidance. For more information visit oba.clubexpress.com.
