Have Camera – Non-professional photogs: TOO MUCH STUFF!

As I sit here writing this I think of all the gear I carry on a daily basis because I am a professional photographer and feel I must be prepared to cover Armageddon just in case Bruce Willis comes in and saves the day and we have to update VeroNews.com.

But, recently, I put myself in the role of an everyday shooter at Disney.

I put back on the camera strap leaving my Cotton Carrier rig behind, took off the vertical grip, and put on my “walk about” lens (a 24mm f/2.8).

To my amazement, at Disney, people were carrying packed camera bags complete with dedicated flashes and long zoom lenses.

People, it’s too much!

I used to be this way all of the time. But it’s not worth the hassle lugging around all of this gear just for shots of Timmy with Mickey. A small consumer camera can do that.

There’s one thing to be said about making memories. But, if carrying an expensive rig around a theme park is hindering your ability to have a good time with your family, it’s not worth it.
