Saint Edward’s Students Awarded AP Scholar Designations

VERO BEACH — The College Board has recognized 49 Saint Edward’s students and recent graduates representing Indian River, Martin and Saint Lucie Counties for their distinguished academic achievement in college-level Advanced Placement (AP) course-work.

The AP Scholar Awards recognize high school students who have demonstrated a high level of proficiency on college-level work through achievement in Advanced Placement coursework and exams.

Three students from the class of 2011 were awarded the highest designation of National AP Scholar. Maxcimillion Lipkin and Linh Nguyen, of Vero Beach, and Cory Quinlan, of Sebastian, attained the rank of National AP Scholar, which is granted to students who receive an average score of 4 or higher on a 1-5 scale on all AP exams taken and score 4 or higher on at least 8 AP exams.

The Saint Edward’s AP National Scholars Lipkin, Nguyen, and Quinlan took a combined total of 34 AP exams during their time at Saint Edward’s, averaging 11 AP courses each. Maxcimillion Lipkin is currently enrolled at New York University, Linh Nguyen at Rice University, and Cory Quinlan at the University of Miami.

The College Board designated an additional 13 Saint Edward’s students as AP Scholars with Distinction. Students are from Vero Beach unless otherwise noted.

Graduates 2011: Hammad Ahmed, Port St. Lucie, Darian Hadjiabadi, Meagan Mayo, Anastasia Oswald, Ryan Slater, Stuart, Kathryn Weeks, Alec Wynne, Port St. Lucie.

Seniors 2012: Sasha Benincasa, Paul Colella, Lauren Edwards, Ethan Klein, Fort Pierce, Anmol Patel, Rhett Reisman.

Scholars so designated must receive an average score of at least 3.50 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. This group of Saint Edward’s students has completed 89 AP exams, averaging more than 6 courses each and scoring a combined average of 4.04 out of 5 on the 89 tests taken. Seven of the AP Scholars with Distinction are from the class of 2011 and six are currently seniors at Saint Edward’s.

Twelve Saint Edward’s students and graduates were recognized as AP Scholars with Honor for having received an average of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams and scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams.

Seniors 2012: Ashley Brown, Hannah Hussamy, August Restle, Emily Salvador, Leyla Tettamanti, Sewalls Point.

Twenty-one additional Saint Edward’s students were recognized by the College Board as AP Scholars.

Graduates 2011: Dillon Benson, Taylor Edwards, Christian French, Elizabeth Hendren, Fort Pierce, Tarek Hussamy, Divya Korlipara, Port St. Lucie, Ajay Kumar, Port St. Lucie, Grace Langstaff, Austin Machado, Sebastian, Imran Rashid, Port St. Lucie, Christian Rose, Elizabeth Sockol, Fort Pierce, Loretta Villacorta.

Seniors 2012: Kyle Aldrich, Meagan Carrick, Austin Carroll, Lara Drondoski, Fort Pierce, Eric Strickland, Palm City, Amee Upadhyay, Victoria Vilches.

Juniors 2013: Elliot Jaffe

This recognition is granted to students for receiving scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP Exams. This group of Saint Edward’s students took a combined total of 95 Advanced Placement Courses.

Thirteen of these students are graduates of the Class of 2011, seven are currently seniors at Saint Edward’s and one, Elliot Jaffe is a Junior.

The Advanced Placement Scholar Awards recognize high school students who have demonstrated college-level achievement through AP courses and exams. Students at Saint Edward’s may begin taking AP level course work in their freshman year.

The Advanced Studies Program at Saint Edward’s offers a rigorous program for Seniors who wish to add independent research to an already challenging program of honors and AP courses.

Students graduating from Saint Edward’s School are accepted at the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country and many receive college credit for having completed AP level courses while at Saint Edward’s School.

Founded upon the independent Episcopal school tradition, Saint Edward’s School is a co-educational, pre-kindergarten through grade 12, college preparatory school committed to educational excellence. Saint Edward’s is located in Vero Beach and is a not-for-profit, 501 (C) (3) organization.
