Phyllis Maulfair, 70, died Nov. 28, 2011, at Florida Hospital, Winter Park.
She was born in Newark, N.J., and moved to Vero Beach in 1975.
After college at the University of Miami and Rutgers University, she studied commercial art and fashion illustration in New York and attended The Heritage School of Fine Art in South Orange, N.J., where she studied with John R. Grabach, NA.
After a 25-year career in the fashion industry working with Bill Blass, Pierre Cardin and Givency, she retired and turned to developing her art, fulfilling a lifelong passion to create paintings.
Her work was seen in Vero Beach art shows, and she was an integral part of the Vero Beach Art Club exhibiting in and chairing the Art In the Park and Art by the Sea shows for many years.
Her work was seen at the Vero Beach Museum of Art, John Turchin Gallery of Fine Art, in Banner Elk, N.C., and private collections.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Richard, of Vero Beach; son, Dr. Mitchell Maulfair, of Orlando; and three grandsons.

Services were in Orlando on Dec. 1, and her ashes will be placed at the Queen of Peace in North Arlington, N.J.
A local memorial will be at a later date.
