Charles J. “Hookie” Rossmell, 86, Vero Beach

Charles J. “Hookie” Rossmell, 86, died Nov. 27, 2011, at his home.

He was born in Harrison, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for 29 years, coming from his birthplace.

He worked as a crane operator in the manufacturing industry.

He was a veteran of the Army during World War II serving with the 22nd Bombardment Squadron in China and India. He attended St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Irene, of Vero Beach; son, Joseph Rossmell, of Vero Beach; daughter, Annemarie Rossmell, of Vero Beach; sisters, Josephine Gardner, of Toms River, N.J., and Stella Zaluski, of Lake Hiawatha, N.J.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Rossmell; and sisters, Anna Sweet and Jean Rossmell.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 3 with a service at noon at the Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
