INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A boat reported stolen out of Miami landed in the area of Treasure Shores Beach, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
The 33-foot boat’s condition was not immediately known, nor is it known how or why it ended up at Treasure Shores Beach.
Sheriff’s spokesman Jeff Luther said it wasn’t known if the boat had been involved in any illegal activity, such as transporting illegal aliens or drugs.
The U.S. Coast Guard responded to the scene, as did U.S. Border Patrol.
A spokeswoman with the U.S. Coast Guard could not confirm that the boat had indeed been stolen out of Miami. She said the boat’s owners had contacted a company to tow the boat.
According to VeroNews.com photographer Tom McCarthy Jr., Tow BoatU.S. of Vero Beach was on scene to tow the boat to the Sebastian Inlet.
