SEBASTIAN — Santa Claus’s Sebastian home will be ready with plenty of time to spare before the annual Christmas and Holiday Parade, his elves said Sunday. Elves from the Sebastian GFWC Junior and Woman’s Clubs spent their Sunday afternoon preparing the site, stringing lights and sprucing it up.
“It’s like a puzzle,” said Dionna Farmer, a member of the Junior Woman’s Club. She pointed to several pieces of Santa’s house that have been labeled as to where they go.
Volunteers need only put each piece where it belongs and place the decorations – a Christmas tree in the corner, a fireplace, and, of course, Santa’s chair.
There to help were Jane and Paul Croy, who untangled strings of Christmas lights and strung them around the roof the house at Riverview Park.
“He hangs the lights at home,” Woman’s Club member Jane Croy said. “And I hold the ladder.”
Santa will be arriving Saturday Dec. 3, brought in with the City of Sebastian’s Annual Christmas and Holiday Parade, which starts at 6 p.m.
The parade will begin at Main Street, travel south on Indian River Drive to Riverview Park, and deliver Santa to his house, where the City Christmas tree will be lit and children can visit with Santa and share their holiday wishes.
The public is invited to participate or come out and welcome Santa. The parade is sponsored by the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce, GFWC Senior & Junior Woman’s Club of Sebastian, and the Sebastian Property Owners Association, with assistance of the City of Sebastian.
If you, your club, service organization or family would like to participate in the parade, please contact the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce (772) 589-5969 for registration, or Bruce Zingman (772) 228-9938. You may also obtain more information by emailing info@sebastianchamber.com.
