VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Police Department has identified the murder victim in an apparent home burglary Thursday evening as that of homeowner Brian Simpson, 41.
The department still has not released the method of the murder, though Indian River County Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Brian Burkeen said it was a shooting.
The Vero Beach Police department responded to 620 Fiddlewood Road at 6:42 p.m. Thursday after having received a report of a loud “banging-type” noise in the area.
Investigators found Simpson dead inside the home.
Authorities have not yet released any suspect information of the murder-burglary suspect.
The Vero Beach Police Department said it would release more information as it becomes available.
