Vero Beach Police investigating apparent murder in Central Beach

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Police Department is investigating an apparent homicide case on the barrier island that occurred Thursday evening around 6:42 in the 600 block of Fiddlewood Road.

According to the police department, there was a report of a loud, suspicious noise in the area. Officers responded and discovered a possible break-in at 620 Fiddlewood Road. Investigators are still processing the scene.

Authorities found a deceased white man inside the home. Whether the man was the homeowner was not immediately released.

The home is owned by Brian and Kristen Simpson, according to the Indian River County Property Appraiser’s Office.

The Vero Beach Police have not released information about the perpetrator or about the murder itself.

“No one is in custody,” police spokesman Officer John Morrison said Friday morning.

“This is an active investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available,” Morrison said in a press release about the homicide. More information could be released later today.
