INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — This Thanksgiving, First Church of God of Vero Beach will be offering a free Thanksgiving dinner for anyone in our community who is in need. They believe that no one should go without, or eat Thanksgiving dinner alone.
Based on the current economic conditions, they are striving to meet the needs that are a present day reality for many.
Thanksgiving 2011 will be the fourth year First Church of God has provided a Thanksgiving dinner for the community. Last year they served over 1200 meals.
They shared dinner with large families who were unable to provide something similar at home, single or widowed adults who were able to feel a sense of a family environment, and just those who were unable to get out of town to be with their family.
This year they plan to serve over 1700 meals as they extend their efforts. Along with dinner in their main auditorium, they also have a team prepared to deliver warm Thanksgiving dinners to the elderly or homebound.
Organizations receiving prepared dinners include St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist, Immanuel Church, Orange Blossom Village (Seniors), Gardenia Gardens (Seniors), Hibiscus Children’s Center, and 400 will be handed out in-house.
First Church of God is located at 1105 58th Avenue, Vero Beach. The phone number is (772) 562-2256.
