State Party Chair addressed Indian River County Democrats

VERO BEACH — On Saturday Nov. 5, Rod Smith, chairman of the Florida Democratic Party, implored attendees at the Kick-Off to 2012 luncheon to work hard to bring their shared vision of the Democratic Party to friends and neighbors in Indian River County.

“A vision,” said Smith, “that our government can live within its means and act responsibly in terms of our budget, but also make sure that the burden is shared and that sacrifices are spread around. A vision that our country is at its best when education for all kids is a priority, when investments for a strong future are made in science and technology; and. when it makes sure that our seniors can retire with dignity.”

In addition to the rousing address by Smith, guests were treated to a musical performance by the Gifford Youth Orchestra that played selections from Broadway shows and patriotic songs. Lead violinist, Javan Crosdale played a beautiful rendition of America the Beautiful to tumultuous applause.

Opening remarks were made by Indian River County Democratic Executive Committee Chair Edward White. Proceeds from Kick-Off to 2012 will help the Indian River Democratic Party reach the community with its principle-centered message in preparation for the upcoming elections. The IRC DEC also received its 2011 Charter from Smith at the event.
