Waldo’s gives back to the homeless community

VERO BEACH — With Florida’s unemployment rate remaining the highest above the national average, many of our homeless neighbors struggle even harder to find work and make a life for themselves.

A local restaurant manager, Lee Olsen from Waldo’s Restaurant, celebrates a one year anniversary in giving back to the homeless community. He believes in giving people an opportunity.

“It is a pleasure referring some of our dedicated, client volunteers to Lee. I’ve known Lee for over 10 years and his heart is filled with compassion,” said Brenda Sposato, executive assistant at The Source.

“One story that truly touches my heart is the one of Tali Medina,” Sposato said. “Tali was a loyal volunteer here at The Source. He was homeless and jobless, but determined to make it in life. Day after day, I watched Tali faithfully volunteer here at The Source. He always had a smile. I couldn’t believe he was homeless. He was always so clean and happy, ready to work. Tali was not the stereotypical homeless man. He was different. A job at Waldo’s Restaurant forever changed his life. Tali is now off the streets.”

These are challenging times. Everyone, everywhere in America is struggling to find work. We thank Lee Olsen for his outstanding efforts to end homelessness.
