Vero Beach, Sebastian and Fellsmere voters to decide future today

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The more than 36,000 registered voters of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Fellsmere today will choose who will represent them on their respective daises and decide whether or not to approve various charter amendments and a referendum.

The three cities will hold their municipal elections starting at 7 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m.

Fellsmere voters will choose two of three candidates to sit on the City Council. The candidates include incumbents Mayor Susan Adams and Councilwoman Sara Savage and challenger John Luke.

Sebastian’s voters will choose three from a field of six. They will also approve or oppose eight proposed changes to the city’s charter documents. The candidates include incumbents Councilwoman Andrea Coy and Councilman Don Wright and challengers David DeVirgilio, Damien Gilliams, Bob McPartlan and Amber Miller.

In Vero Beach, voters will select two representatives out of four candidates to serve on council as well as decide whether or not to allow the city to lease the property on which the electric plant sits.

Vero’s candidates include incumbents Councilwoman Tracy Carroll and Councilman Brian Heady and challengers Ken Daige and Dick Winger.

Polls in the three cities open at 7 a.m. Voters must bring a photo/signature identification card, such as a driver’s license, to their assigned polling site.

Once polls close at 7 p.m., the Supervisor of Elections Office will begin to compile the results and release the information as it becomes available.

The results will be broadcast on Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Indian River County’s government channels, 13, 25 and 27, respectively.
