The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is seeking reaccreditation from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA), and members of the public are invited to offer comments.
A team of CFA assessors will arrive Dec. 13 to examine all aspects of the FWC’s policies and procedures, management, operations and support services, Col. Jim Brown, director of the FWC’s Division of Law Enforcement announced. The FWC has to comply with approximately 213 standards to receive reaccreditation status.
As part of the on-site assessment, agency members and the general public are invited to offer comments to the assessment team. Comments must address the agency’s ability to comply with CFA standards and be submitted in writing to the CFA at P.O. Box 1489, Tallahassee, FL 32302, or info@flaccreditation.org.

“The CFA assessment team is composed of law enforcement practitioners from other accredited Florida law enforcement agencies,” said Capt. Dean Kelly, the FWC’s accreditation manager.
The assessors will review written materials, interview individuals and visit offices and other places where compliance can be observed.
If the CFA determines the FWC has complied with the appropriate standards, the reaccreditation will be active for three years. This voluntary process is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.
