Space Coast Symphony to pair Sci-Fi movie scores with film excerpts

VERO BEACH — Journey to another galaxy with Aaron Collins and the Space Coast Symphony when they present “Out of this World! Science Fiction Classics” at 7 p.m. Saturday Nov. 12 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2365 Pine Avenue in Vero Beach.

The SCSO will “beam up” concert-goers into science fiction’s greatest film and musical moments including Star Wars, E.T: The Extra-Terrestrial, Star Trek, and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

“Out of this World! Science Fiction Classics” is the first concert of Night at the Movies, an innovative series pairing film scores and suites with images and clips on screen.

The Space Coast Symphony will present the World Premiere of Jerry Goldsmith’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture Director’s Cut, a 25-minute suite comprised of cues from the original score.

In addition, the orchestra will highlight Alex North’s rejected score from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Topping off the evening will be suites from John Williams in E.T and Star Wars.

Advance tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org, at Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches) Madison Avenue Consignments, or by calling (321) 536-8580.

Tickets at the door are an additional $5. Students 18 years of age and under admitted free.

And for those unable to afford the price of general admission, the new SCSO Symphony for Everyone program will provide discounted tickets to anyone wishing to attend the symphony performance.
