Run Like A Turkey Before You Eat One

VERO BEACH — If you’re already feeling guilty about overeating on Thanksgiving Day and then vegetating in front of the TV afterward, you can start the day doing something healthy this year and join the 900 participants for the Fourth Annual 5K Turkey Trot Against Hunger run/walk starting at 7:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, Nov. 24 at Riverside Park.

Advanced online registration at www.trotagainsthunger.com is encouraged. Registration may also be done through Runner’s Depot, 436 21st Street, Vero Beach or by calling (772) 569-7364.

Race day check-in begins at 6:30 a.m. and the cost is $25 in advance or $30 the day of the race. All proceeds from the run/walk will go to support Harvest Food & Outreach Center, which has locations in both South and North Vero Beach, as well as Ft. Pierce.

If you don’t care to trot but want to start the day with a hearty breakfast and support the effort, then come on out for a full pancake breakfast, featuring Marsh Landing Restaurant’s famous sweet potato pancake batter.

Harvest Food & Outreach Center provides hunger relief, crisis counseling and educational programs for hundreds of individuals and families six days a week. Runners and spectators are asked to bring a non-perishable food item to stock the emergency food pantry in preparation for a busy holiday season.
