INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Drug Enforcement Agency’s Take-Back Initiative through the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office’s Operation Medicine Cabinet returns to various locations throughout the county on Oct. 29, helping residents to safely dispose of expired and unused medications.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and, while supplies last, those who bring old medicines for disposal will receive a $5 gift card to Walgreen’s.
Bring unused or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medication to one of the locations listed for proper disposal.
Those with used medical needles are encouraged to take their “sharps” to the Health Department, 1900 27th St., instead of to the Operation Medicine Cabinet sites.
For those who can’t make it to one of the Operation Medicine Cabinet locations, medications can be dropped off at the Sheriff’s Office Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
