Lifelong Learning and Intrepid Art Gallery to offer six-part Artist at Work series

VERO BEACH — The Artist at Work, an exciting new educational partnership program between the Fielden Institute for Lifelong Learning and the Intrepid Art Gallery in Vero Beach will host a series of six Artist Presentations from 3 to 5 p.m. Fridays Oct. 28, Nov. 18, Dec. 16, Jan. 27, March 16 and April 20 at the Richardson Center, Mueller Campus. Exhibits will be at the Intrepid Gallery as indicated below.

Friday, Oct. 28 – Golden Seeds Convocation with sculptor, Carolina Rojas. Exhibit thru Oct. 30

Venezuelan sculptor Carolina Rojas art is rich in textures, transmitting warmth, all in an atmosphere of elegance and mysticism which has become the trademark of her work. Carolina’s sculptures are now in private collections throughout US, Venezuela, Mexico, and Spain. She has had and will have exhibits ; Iberoamerica in Caracas 2008, SOFA in Chicago 2010, Arte America in Miami 2011, and Art Pavilion in Shanghai in September 2011.

Friday, Nov. 18 – Artist Sean Sexton on Poetry and Painting. Exhibit Nov. 10 to 30

Local artist Sean Sexton, in his “Solo Show Sean Sexton” will discuss his paintings, drawings, and etchings and his recent book of poetry Blood Writing. Sean Sexton is a third generation of proud Floridians. Sexton divides his time between painting, writing and taking care of his family’s 600 acre ranch in Vero Beach.

Friday, Dec. 16 – Recent Works with artist Christina de la Vega. Exhibit Dec. 8 to Jan. 5

Artist Cristina de la Vega is the owner of Cristina de la Vega Studios in Stuart, Florida. The artist’s paintings reflect her keen interest in and eye for environmental conservation and preservation of wilderness, eco art, and naturalistic landscape. She was honored in 2009, Florida Hispanic Artist of the year. Cristina de la Vega will be speaking about her art and its inspiration. Her son will speak on Jose Marti’s, work as a poet, writer, journalist, professor, philosopher and political theorist, an important figure in Latin America literature and a Cuban national hero.

Friday, Jan. 27 – Am I? I am? with artist Pamela Pike Gordinier. Exhibit Jan. 19 to Feb. 18

The Video Performance artist’s new exhibition “Am I? I am?” is inspired by the sea-where sea meets the shore and speaks of beginnings and endings. Mrs. Gordinier has been a member of the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, The Copley Society of Boston and Connecticut Watercolor Society. An award winning artist, her work hangs in the collections of several Fortune 500 companies. She has a studio in Stonington, CT. and teaches January thru April in Vero Beach, Florida.

Friday, March 16 – Vernissage with sculptor Rafael Consuegra. Exhibit March 1 to 31

One of the most original and important sculptors of our time, Rafael Consuegra has over 50 years of experience and a unique style using, metal, ceramics, and cane to create his sculptures. Consuegra holds a Master in Fine Arts and twice was granted the Cintas Fellowship at the International Institute of Education in New York. His work has been shown in Argentina, France Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Russia, USA, and the Vatican.

Friday, April 20 – With a Critique of the Works of artist Rene Guerin. Exhibit April 5 to 20

Rene Guerin is a Vero Beach native specializing in contemporary Florida landscaping, figuratives, and sculptures. Rene’s work can be found throughout museums and galleries in Florida and Georgia. She will present the connection between sculpture and painting and how for her, one feeds the other.

Tickets are $20 per presentation or $100 for all; includes artist presentation and reception.
