VERO BEACH — Charlotte Terry, president of the Laura Riding Jackson Foundation, inaugurates the 27th season of AAUW’s Book Review Breakfasts on Monday, Nov. 7, with her review of “Mockingbird: A Portrait of Harper Lee” by Charles J. Shields.
Free and open to the public, the series will again be held at the Richardson Center on the Mueller campus of Indian River State College, 6155 College Lane. A continental breakfast at 9:30 a.m. will be followed by the review at 10.
No tickets or reservations are required.
A fourth-generation Floridian, Terry moved from Jacksonville to Vero Beach with her family in 1966. An avid naturalist, she also serves on the board of McKee Botanical Garden.
“Mockingbird” is the first full-length biography of Lee. It was published to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Lee’s classic American novel, her Pulitzer Prize-winning “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
The series will continue on Monday, Dec. 5 with Vero Beach Magazine editor and publisher, Elizabeth Moulton, reviewing “Kristin Lavransdatter” by Sigrid Undset.
Founded in 1881, the American Association of University Women has 100,000 members, 1,000 branches including Vero Beach, and 500 college/university partners nationwide. Today membership is open to both men and women who have an Associate, RN, Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university.
