VERO BEACH — Boeing Boeing, winner of the 2008 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play comes in for a landing as Riverside Theatre’s first production of the 2011-2012 season. Nominated for six Tony Awards, Boeing Boeing also won the 2008 Tony for Best Actor in a Play and was a hit with critics and audiences alike.
Boeing Boeing takes the Stark Stage from Thursday, Oct. thru Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011.
Written by French playwright Marc Camoletti and adapted into English by Beverley Cross, Boeing Boeing is an uproarious and wild farce with an incredibly successful, seven-year run in London in 1962.
It transferred to Broadway in 1965 and was made into a very successful film starring Tony Curtis, Jerry Lewis and Thelma Ritter. With another successful run in London in 2007, Boeing Boeing transferred to Broadway in 2008 for its multi award-winning run.
The comedy revolves around Bernard, a successful American architect living in a posh Paris apartment, who has been deftly juggling three fiancées, each beautiful airline hostesses with frequent layovers in Paris.
With a bit of assistance from his reluctant housekeeper, Bernard’s carefully constructed timetable runs like clockwork until a combination of the faster Boeing 707 jet and bad weather bring all three to his apartment on the same night. When his childhood friend arrives for a visit, he tries to help Bernard through the comic chaos.
Boeing-Boeing has been called “the funniest play to hit Broadway in ages” and The New York Times called the play, “deliciously, deliriously innocent! The production levitates into high comedy.”
Starring Tony Award winning Actress Karen Ziemba as Gretchen (the German fiancée), Boeing Boeing also features Broadway veterans, Adam Monley as Bernard, Kathel Carlson as Bertha (Bernard’s housekeeper), Jennifer Cody as Gabriella (the Italian fiancée), Heather Parcells as Gloria (the American fiancée) and John Scherer as Robert (Bernard’s childhood friend).
