Janet L. Brittingham, 86, died Aug. 21, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
She was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and lived in Vero Beach since 1986, coming from Brookfield Center, Conn.
She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
Before retiring, she worked for the Brookfield School System for 13 years.
Survivors include her sons, Douglas Brittingham Jr. and Scott Brittingham, both of New Milford, Conn., Peter Brittingham, of East Canaan, Conn., and James Brittingham, of Plymouth, Conn.; daughter, Kathy Adams, of Dunedin; brother, William Lamond, of Gilford, Conn.; sister, Marguerite L. Van Wagner, of Vero Beach; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Oct. 15 at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.
