Betty May McCann, born Dec. 12, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., died on Aug. 27, 2011 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
She lived in Florida for 30 years, moving from Chicago, Ill.
She served in the U.S. Army Air Corp for two years during World War II as a secretary and achieved the rank of corporal.
She recently was a member of the Vero Beach Air Force Sergeants Association as Vero Beach flight secretary.
She was a member of and attended the First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include her daughter Linda Wheeler; son-in-law Rick Bushgen; grandson Caleb Curry; granddaughter Johnie Wheeler; sisters Gloria Szczudlo, of Crown Point, Ind.; and Carol Koenig, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and many nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach.
Internment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
